
The Ministry of Youth Development recently held Youth Policy Consultative Meetings in Nembe and Ogbia local government areas, advancing its efforts to develop an inclusive and impactful youth development policy that addresses the unique challenges and aspirations of Bayelsa East’s youth.
At Nembe, the Executive Chairman, Hon. David Alagoa, welcomed participants, emphasizing the importance of collective effort in shaping a meaningful policy. He urged attendees to make the most of this platform to identify challenges and propose actionable solutions.
Hon. Ebi Ben Ololo, Commissioner for Environment, commended the initiative’s focus on inclusivity and sustainable development. He highlighted complementary efforts by the Ministry of Environment, such as forestry policy reforms designed to benefit the state and create opportunities for young people.
The Honorable Commissioner for Youth Development, Mr. Alfred Kemepado, addressed participants at Nembe and Ogbia, outlining the ministry’s vision and reiterating its commitment to a bottom-up approach, as directed by His Excellency, Sen. Douye Diri. He assured stakeholders that their inputs would be prioritised, ensuring the policy reflects the diverse realities of Bayelsa East’s youth.
The meetings featured robust group discussions, during which participants actively identified challenges and contributed innovative solutions to enhance the policy development process.
The Nembe session included notable figures such as Hon. Inikio Daniel, Vice Chairman; RDA Chairmen; Comrade Decon Robert Igali JP, Director General of the Center for Youth Development; Comrade Orafiri Thomas, Director of the Center for Youth Development, Nembe LGA; and Mr. Raphael John Nunu.
In Ogbia, key attendees included Chief John Jacob, DDG Center for Youth Development Bayelsa East; Matthew Ibegu, Director Center for Youth Development Ogbia LGA; Comrade Joe Mipuruaziba, OBYC President; and Mr. Nathaniel Goodnews, S.A Security, Ogbia LGA.
The Ministry remains steadfast in developing a youth-centric policy that promotes empowerment and sustainable growth across Bayelsa East (Nembe and Ogbia) and the entire state.
