Kaiama Town Hosts Consultative Meeting for Youth Development
The Honourable Commissioner for Youth Development, Mr Alfred Kemepado Nimizigha, has officially launched a series of consultative meetings to facilitate drafting the Bayelsa State Youth Policy. The initiative, which began on Wednesday, 27th November 2024, in Kaiama Town, Kolokuma/Opokuma Local Government Area, seeks to gather insights from youth leaders across the state.
This consultative process, directed by His Excellency Senator Douye Diri, Governor of Bayelsa State, aims to ensure that the Youth Policy reflect the unique challenges and aspirations of youths from urban and hinterland communities. The meetings will span all eight LGAs in Bayelsa State, emphasizing inclusivity and grassroots engagement.
Community Youth Presidents and other youth organisation representatives engaged in interactive sessions, including breakout discussions and feedback collection. Participants shared concerns and recommendations on youth development, aiming to localise solutions to address the needs of their communities.
Mr Alfred Kemepado underscored the Ministry’s commitment to creating a youth policy that is both people-centred and action-driven. He emphasized the importance of collaboration with stakeholders to develop a framework that will empower Bayelsa’s youth, foster their growth, and address critical challenges.
The Ministry of Youth Development expressed confidence that this inclusive approach will result in a robust policy that supports the development, participation, and empowerment of Bayelsa’s young population. The outcomes of these meetings are expected to play a pivotal role in shaping the state’s youth-focused initiatives in the years ahead.
